BIM is quickly changing how building, infrastructure and utilities are planned, designed, built and managed. BIM is a Revit file format which helps turn information into insight and provide detailed information.

“BIM informs and communicates project decisions by creating and using smart 3D models. BIM is designed to make it easier to reach project and business targets.”

BIM is much more than a 3D design though, it is the process for before, during and after construction for creating and managing all of the information on a project. The result of this process is the Building Information Model, the digital description of every aspect of the built asset.

Roman have ensured that all their key ranges of Shower Enclosures, Wetrooms, Bath Screens, Walk-In Enclosures and Shower Trays are now offered in the BIM format. Anybody can now download Roman’s key product collections in the BIM file format straight from our website, in the Downloads and Guides section.

Not only does BIM give a visual representation of the specific product it also provides their provenance and standards, which is extremely important and useful. It provides details such as the manufacturers information, including, the door style (hinged, sliding, pivot), the range name, the product code, glass thickness, height of the enclosure and guarantee information. BIM also includes information about the relevant standards for the product, including EN standards and CE marking.

There are several benefits of BIM, which include the avoidance of mistakes, alterations and rework due to information loss, it saves essential time and it is much more accurate in estimation.

Information is the key in the BIM process and its objective is to bring efficiency and improvements to the industry.
